Dance
Students from DU's theatre department and music school put on a production of the Broadway classic, Cabaret.
At DU, there are lots of opportunities to shine on stage.
At the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, dance companies from all over the world routinely captivate audiences. The offerings are as varied as Denver's own Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, the Diavolo Dance Theater, the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet and the Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet.
In addition, many daring dance performances are given yearly during the Newman Center Presents performance series.
The history of dance is yours to explore at DU's Carson-Brierly Dance Library, housed in Penrose Library. Along with thousands of books, the compilation includes historical programs, photographs, music scores, recordings, more than 300 dance posters, and an oral history collection of interviews with dancers and choreographers.
If you want to move out of the audience and onto the stage, you can take courses in stage movement and dance through the Department of Theatre. You can also join one of DU's two club dance programs. DU's Dance Team performs at public events throughout the year, and the Dance Club offers weekly classes to students who enjoy fancy footwork.
